QueerDispatch
At QueerDispatch, we believe transparency builds trust. Artificial intelligence tools are used in limited ways to support our work, but human editorial judgment remains central to everything we publish.
QueerDispatch is an independent LGBTQIA2S+ media publication run by a small volunteer team. We believe our community deserves honest, specific information about how we use artificial intelligence — not vague reassurances, not silence. This policy is our attempt to be genuinely transparent about what AI does in our work, what it does not do, and what we think about that.
This page explains how AI tools are used in the creation of the QueerDispatch website and content.
Our Editorial Principles
QueerDispatch is a human-driven publication. Our writers and editors are responsible for:
- Editorial viewpoints and activism
- Fact-checking and verification
- Source selection and framing
- Final approval of every article
AI tools may assist in formatting, drafting, or visual creation, but AI does not determine our editorial stance or reporting conclusions.
AI Use in Website Development
The QueerDispatch website theme was created with assistance from AI.
Specifically:
- The QueerDispatch theme was built using Manus AI.
- The theme source code is publicly available here:
https://github.com/QnEZ/queerdispatch-manus
Manus AI was used to assist in:
- theme scaffolding
- CSS and layout generation
- UI structure and responsive design
All code is reviewed and maintained by human developers before deployment.
AI Use in Graphics & Infographics
Some visual assets published by QueerDispatch are created using generative AI tools.
We currently use:
- ChatGPT image generation tools
These tools are used for:
- article infographics
- featured images
- shareable social media graphics
When AI is used for graphics:
- Images are designed and directed by our editorial team.
- Graphics are reviewed before publication.
- Images are intended as illustrative visualizations, not documentary photography.
AI Assistance in Writing & Editing
QueerDispatch occasionally uses AI tools, including ChatGPT, to assist with:
- editing drafts
- grammar and readability improvements
- headline brainstorming
- formatting for CMS publishing
- generating structured layouts (such as WordPress blocks)
However:
- All articles are reviewed and approved by a human editor.
- All editorial positions reflect the views of QueerDispatch writers and editors.
- AI does not independently publish content on this site.
Fact-Checking Standards
Even when AI tools assist with drafting or editing:
- Sources are verified by human editors.
- Claims are reviewed against primary reporting when possible.
- Corrections will be issued if errors are identified.
Our Commitment
AI tools can help small publications operate more efficiently, but they do not replace human journalism or activist accountability.
QueerDispatch remains committed to:
- transparency
- responsible technology use
- community-driven reporting
- ethical journalism
Questions or Concerns
If you have questions about our AI use, you can contact the editorial team through our contact page.
We welcome community feedback and will continue updating this policy as our technology and practices evolve.
